The Sword of the Snow Mountains

In the frozen wilds of Raxana – a world divided into the celestial heavens of Rank, the mortal earth of Xa, and the shadowy underworld of Naroxa – ancient legends whisper of a shattered sword forged in the fires of creation itself. This myth sets the stage for a world where ancient grudges simmer beneath snowbound forests and mountain forges. The story begins with an old traveler arriving at blacksmith Aitri’s forge during a snowstorm. He seeks to have a mysterious, broken ancient sword repaired, and as Aitri examines the shards, he realizes the weapon was not made by mortal hand.

“The steel has memory, and sometimes it remembers the break.”

Meanwhile, the neighboring village children, a boy and a girl named Yor and Anaya, drawn to the forge’s furnace, catch Aitri’s attention, foreshadowing their own importance in the unfolding events. Here, Yor apprentices alongside unlikely companions: Lofar, a dwarven prince from under Pinegold Mountain, and Eredian, an elven heir from the western islands of Amasiena. Their improbable alliance defies old prejudices, as dwarves and elves rarely share knowledge (let alone an anvil). Aitri teaches Yor not just the art of steel but the wisdom of the wise:

“It is not a shiny blade that fights the battle; but the heart that beats in a hero brave.”

Yor’s world is one of simple joys and hidden perils. He and his wild-hearted friend Anaya – a girl with curly maroon hair and an uncanny bond with nature – play forbidden games like “Fire in the Snow,” sneaking into the forge to glimpse the mythical gates of Naroxa (their childish idea). Druid Helmold (a wizard), Aitri’s old friend, warns of peculiar signs: birch maidens whispering Anaya’s name, mountain spirits singing her praises, and flickering lights of Rank where her footprints linger. Anaya, unknowingly, carries the “light of Rank,” a rare affinity that thins the veil between realms, drawing darker eyes.

“Their friendship will be the hinge upon which everything turns.”

Seven to fifteen winters hence, a reckoning looms, tied to the sword’s reforging and the children’s growth. But evil stirs in Naroxa, where Lord Eseveles plots conquest, sowing discord among tribes and awakening ancient beasts. As the years pass, Yor matures into a great blacksmith (and then a formidable warrior). He witnesses the gods’ fractures: the steppe deity Git-An-Dur splintered into light and dark twins. Battles erupt against draugirs, orcs, and spectral foes, drawing Yor into a quest across realms. Guided by visions and allies like the sea-elf Lenen She on the enchanted isle of Arank, Yor confronts a dragon (the acid-spitting Rahug on the Mourning Serpent Isle). Armored in golden scales of the fabled dragon Gilparespas and wielding the reforged sword, he battles cyclones and unicorns twisted by dark magic. In a cavern of treasures, he shatters the Black Daudur crystal, freeing trapped souls… Yet the heart of the tale lies in Yor’s internal forge: his love for Anaya, the tempering of rage into mercy, vengeance into wisdom. Haunted by losses – Skira’s smile, Anaya’s cries – Yor grapples with the legend’s echoes:

“To friend and foe show mercy’s light; a blade divine shall arm thy might.”
